Once you POP, the fun don't STOP!!!

Hello All!

I’m a daddy!

I’m a daddy! I’m a daddy! I’m a daddy! I’m a daddy! I’m a daddy! I’m a daddy! I’m a daddy! I’m a daddy! I’m a daddy! I’m a daddy! I’m a daddy! I’m a daddy! I’m a daddy! I’m a daddy! I’m a daddy! I’m a daddy! I’m a daddy! I’m a daddy! I’m a daddy! I’m a daddy!

And I love it! I cannot wait till I am able to take my two little boys home. Yes, their still in the hospital, no, they’re doing great. Let me fill you in!

So, we went in for a doctor’s appointment. First was the NST (Non-Stress Test). It’s basically just a test to see how stressed the babies are and if they’re doing okay enough to stay inside! They passed, and then we went to get an ultrasound. In there, we found out that Baby A was 2 weeks behind schedule. He was about a pound smaller than Baby B, and Alexis was 3 cm dilated. It was a bit of a concern, so Doctor Parker told us to meet with MFM (Maternal Fetal Medicine).

MFM is just better ultrasounds at the hospital to find out how the babies are doing exactly. We went in on Friday to get that done. There was a bit of a concern about Baby B getting more food then Baby A, so they said to do another NST and that we’d probably just stick around the hospital for a few days and then be induced that Sunday.

Well, we went in to get the NST and she started having massive contractions and was in a lot of pain. At first, she was still only 3 cm dilated. Mind you, this is still Friday. Around 2 o’ clock she went to 4 cm within 15 minutes. The nurse came in and said, well, YOU ARE IN LABOR!! So what started out as just another day at the doctors office, turned into a trip to the hospital to have the babies.

So she was still in a ton of pain, so at about 3 o’ clock, she got her epidural, and boy was she happy! After she got that, she was just laying there, enjoying life. Talking, laughing. Meanwhile, she keeps getting more dilated. From 2:00 to 6:00 she went from 4 cm to 6 cm. And then from 6:00 to 9:00 she went all the way to full dilation: 10 centimeters! Doctor Parker was not on call so we got an alternate. Luckily we knew him. We had seen Doctor Saunders before on an earlier visit. He came in and said that he was doing a Volume on someone (that’s where they push the belly around to try to turn the baby to breech) and asked if she could wait. She wasn’t feeling the need to push, so we waited.

About 20 minutes later, at about ten to 10:00, Doctor Saunders came in and said, we’re just gonna get you in there! So there we go. I get all suited up. They wheel her out. And off we go! They wanted us in the operating room just in case, so we delivered in there. She began pushing, and within 5 to 10 minutes, Baby A came right out. Baby B on the other hand was being a little turd. He just laid across the top of her belly, and did not want to move. He came down, but the wrong way, so Doctor Saunders began to push him around. He maneuvered her stomach and moved him to vertex (head pointing down) but then he wouldn’t move! He would not come down! And then his heartbeat dropped to 68 and they moved her onto the C-section table. Well, they checked him once more before doing the C-Section, and there he was! So we didn’t have to do the C-Section and we gave birth to Baby B on an operating table! Lol! So 20 min. after Baby A came, Baby B did. That means that she was only pushing for 40 minutes. For those of you that don’t know, that is INCREDIBLE. I know people who were in labor for over 24 hours and were pushing for 3! And that’s with only one!! She did great!! I am so proud of her!

Anyways, so the babies are still in the NICU (Newborn Intensive Care Unit), and they are doing really good. We decided who is who! Baby A is Daniel Christian Young, and Baby B is Brandon Michael Young! Daniel was born 4.6 ounces and Brandon was born 5.2 ounces. Brandon was having a few difficulties breathing, but he’s doing great now. They are both gaining weight and starting to breastfeed now! So they’ll be home in the next week or so!

So that’s what has happened! Exciting times!! :-) I miss you guys! I really really do. We should all get together for an apartment reunion! Lol! Anyway, thanks a lot for being awesome friends, guys! Cya layta!
